In January, Orion stands up over the river valley by six in the evening and is still hanging there at four in the morning, which is when most of this work happens. Orion Land Water Snow runs the plow under that sky, opening driveways and lots while the town sleeps and the road crews are still out on the main routes. Clearing snow is mostly a question of where you put it: away from the door, off the apron, out of the path the melt will take at noon. The payoff arrives at daylight, when a drive is bare and dark and nobody has to guess where the pavement ends. Then the next band comes through and it starts again.
