Earth Co.

About Earth Co.

Elgin was laid down by glaciers — moraine ridges, deep black soil, ravines cut into the north edge of town near Jelkes Creek — and that shape quietly decides how a driveway behaves in winter. Earth Co. plows with the grade in mind: which slopes shed meltwater into a sheet of ice by evening, which flat spots collect the drift, where the salt actually has to go. The season opens with the first hard freeze and then runs on the weather's schedule rather than anyone else's. There's a plain satisfaction in a drive opened to bare pavement before the sky has fully lightened. Snow plowing, walkway clearing and ice control for Elgin, Sleepy Hollow, Gilberts and Hampshire.
