GroundsKeeper

About GroundsKeeper

Downtown Edwardsville keeps its brick and its awnings, and on a June morning the light comes down Main Street at an angle that makes every green strip in front of a storefront look intentional. GroundsKeeper tends ground like that, the narrow lawns, the tree lawns, the little corners by a sign where a trimmer earns its keep. The work is repetition done attentively: mow, trim, edge, blow off the walk, move along before the lunch crowd arrives. Summer storms cross this town quickly and leave everything growing twice as hard, so the route comes back around and settles it down again. A place looks after itself in a hundred small ways, and this is one of them.
