Terry's Home and Garden

About Terry's Home and Garden

Dusk in the South End, and the first flakes come down slow enough to count, gathering on porch steps and the length of the front walk. Terry's Home and Garden takes care of the snow side of a house in East St. Louis — shoveling walks and steps, opening the driveway, putting salt where the north shade keeps ice long after the sun is out. It is small, close-to-the-door work, and it is often what decides whether an older neighbor gets out at all that day. By the time the street plows have made their pass, the path from door to curb is already clear and gritted. East St. Louis and its nearby towns get looked after the same way, house by house.
