Come October the sycamores along the MetroLink line at Emerson Park let go all at once, and the yards underneath simply disappear. JNE Lawn Service works right through it — the last mowings of the year, trimming back what's finished, clearing leaves off lawns and walks until the grass can breathe again. Autumn in East St. Louis is short, gold and windy, so cleanup is more a matter of timing than muscle. A lawn raked out before the first hard frost comes back greener in April, and that is the entire argument for doing it. East St. Louis and the nearby towns stay on the route right to the end of the season.
