D & G snow removal

About D & G snow removal

A clipper comes down out of Alberta with no lake to soften it, and by two in the morning Ogden Avenue is a pair of orange lights and one long white curl. D & G snow removal is out in the same dark, opening residential drives and lots across Downers Grove well before the first eastbound train. The work is plowing, shoveling the walk right up to the door, and salting the shaded apron where a daytime thaw refreezes by dawn. There is a specific pleasure in a driveway that is simply black and clear when the porch light comes on. The village wakes up and never knows how early the night started.
