Not every yard in Dixon faces the street; plenty of the real work happens on back lots, alley strips and the narrow run between a garage and a fence. Lawn care here covers those too — mowing the whole footprint, trimming the awkward corners, edging along concrete, and clearing cuttings and leaves out of the gravel. The river town's summers push grass hard through June and ease it off in August, and the visits track that curve. There is a plain pleasure in a small yard done completely, with nothing left ragged behind the shed. Dixon and the nearby stops at Nelson, Harmon and Amboy.
