The Mulch-n- More

About The Mulch-n- More

April along the Kishwaukee comes in wet and dark, and every bed in DeKalb shows it — soil bare, edges gone soft under a winter of freeze and thaw. That is the week The Mulch-n- More likes best: a truckload of mulch, a spade, and a bed line cut so crisp it throws its own small shadow by noon. Mowing follows the same instinct — one straight pass, a tidy trim along the fence and the foundation, clippings cleared before the wind off the fields can scatter them. Come fall the work runs the other direction: leaves gathered, beds tucked down for the cold, the yard handed over to the months when nothing grows. It is lawn care in a town that keeps time by the growing season, and the reward is the finish — the moment a yard reads as tended from the sidewalk.
