The Sangamon takes its time getting through the bottoms below Faries Park, and the land alongside it holds water the way this whole valley does — generously, and longer than you would like. Walker's Lawn & Landscaping learns each property's low spots and shade lines, then mows, trims, edges and keeps the beds and plantings in order accordingly. Late spring, when everything is soft and green and growing at once, is the busiest stretch; deep winter brings the other half of the job, with drives and walks plowed, cleared and salted. The pleasure of it is watching a place look right in both extremes — trimmed and settled in June, opened up and passable in January. Same ground, same care, whichever way the year is leaning.
