Spring Green

About Spring Green

April in Decatur is two weeks of gray sky and cold mud, and then one morning the whole town turns green at once. On the old streets near Millikin, where the maples arch over the pavement and the front lawns run right to the walk, that change is impossible to miss. Spring Green mows, trims and edges those yards, keeping the turf even and the borders clean from the first flush of growth into the long humid middle of summer. A lawn under big shade trees asks for attention on its own terms, and gets it. By evening the block looks the way a neighborhood ought to look — cut, tidy, and cooling off under the leaves.
