About Gabe's Peculiar Cut Inc.
Some winter mornings in Crete do not bring snow so much as glaze, a thin hard shine over every driveway apron and step. Gabe's Peculiar Cut Inc. reads those forecasts the way other people read a calendar, going out ahead of the freeze to salt, and going back after to scrape what refused to give. When the real storms arrive, the work is plowing drives clear from garage door to street and opening the walks so the mail and the newspaper and everybody's morning can proceed. Nothing about it is decorative. A cleared surface at six in the morning is the whole product, and it is a good one.
