About Wyffels Family Inc.

January in the Rock River bottoms comes in gray and low, with fog sitting over the corn stubble and frost welding itself to everything by dawn. Wyffels Family Inc. runs the winter side of Colona then — plowing drives down to the surface, opening sidewalks, laying salt on the walks so the day does not start with a slip. Come spring the blades give way to mowers, and the same properties get cut, trimmed and edged on a weekly turn through the growing season. The yard gets cleared at the start and the close of that stretch, when the old year needs taking off it. One town, one route, two very different kinds of morning.
