Blackburn Land Service - Southern Illinois

About Blackburn Land Service - Southern Illinois

Cobden sits in the folded hills of Union County, where orchards climb the ridges and the high school teams still answer to the name Appleknockers. The rail line through town once carried its fruit north to Chicago, and in winter the bare apple and peach rows stand gray along the slopes. Snow does not come often this far south, but when it does, every steep lane and hillside drive turns slick in a hurry. Those are the mornings Blackburn Land Service - Southern Illinois works for in Cobden, removing snow and opening drives so people can get down the hill. A cleared grade at first light is the difference between staying put and getting on with the day.
