Channahon carries a Potawatomi name for the meeting of the waters, the place where the Des Plaines and the Kankakee join and travel on as the Illinois. Double J Landscaping tends the yards on both sides of that junction — grass cut on a steady week, beds mulched and shaped, borders trimmed back, spring and fall cleanups carried away. Summers here run humid and generous and the lawns grow fast, so the work is about staying a step ahead of all that green. Come deep winter the same trucks wear plow blades, opening drives and salting walks before the first commuters roll toward the interstate.
