In June, Clark County is every shade of green there is, and the town lawns of Casey have to hold their own against all that corn and bean ground. They do, with a little help: mowing on a regular turn, trimming around trees and posts and foundations, edging the walks and drives, and clearing the clippings off so a sidewalk stays a sidewalk. The old National Road runs right through the middle of town, and a well-kept front yard along it is the first thing a stranger sees of the place. Summers here are long and warm and the grass takes full advantage of both. Keeping up with it is the job; finishing a whole street is the reward.
