Joe's Lawn and Snow Service

About Joe's Lawn and Snow Service

Somewhere past midnight a kitchen light comes on down the block, and a plow is already three streets away. Joe's Lawn and Snow Service runs the small hours of a Carterville winter — clearing driveways, breaking open the ridge the street plows leave at the curb, shoveling steps and paths down to footing you can trust in boots. Salt goes where the sun never quite reaches: the north-side walk, the shaded turnaround, the last four feet before the garage door. Nobody watches any of it happen, which is rather the point; what they see is a car that backs out at six with no shovel in the trunk. Storm after storm, that is the entire ambition.
