North of town the hills let go and the country opens out toward De Soto and Elkville: long fields, enormous sky, July heat that stands still by ten in the morning. Down Range Lawn Care mows through it, laying straight passes that leave a lawn looking brushed rather than chopped. The trimmer follows — mailbox posts, fence lines, tree rings, everywhere the deck can't reach — and then the drive and the front walk get put back to bare concrete. In October the work turns to leaves and a last cut low enough to carry the yard through winter. It is plain, repeated work, and done right it makes a place look looked-after from a hundred yards away.
