Green Planet

About Green Planet

The glacial hills west of St. Charles roll in long slow waves, split by fence lines and horse pasture, with Ferson Creek cutting down through the middle of it. Green Planet plows that country in winter — drives and lots cleared, walks opened, salt laid down where a grade wants to send a car sideways. Snow lies differently on hills: it slides, it drifts to the lee side, it hides ice under a soft inch of powder. On a still night after a storm the whole township goes blue-white under the moon, and the work is having every approach clear before the sun comes up on it.
