An August evening around Burgess runs long and loud with cicadas, and the light stays gold well past supper. JT's Lawn Care takes the last cut of the week in that light — mowing even, trimming the fence lines, edging the drive, the walk blown clean before the truck is loaded. Out in this farm country a lawn is the one piece of ground a person keeps by hand, so it ought to look kept. Spring brings the cleanup and the first cuts; fall brings the leaves and the shutdown mow. In between it is the same rhythm: back every week, and the yard never gets away from anybody.
