West of Peoria the tableland breaks into the wooded ravines around Jubilee Creek, and Brimfield sits at the edge of that country with its back yards running toward the timber. Central Mowing LLC mows there through the season — cutting, trimming, edging, and the cleanups on either end of it. April is when the whole thing begins again: the first pass of the year, grass still soft, the smell of it carrying the length of the block. By August the job is holding a firm border and an even height while the sun does its best to bleach the color out of everything.
