Proksa Park is Berwyn's soft spot, a lagoon and stone bridges and a sunken lawn that holds its green longer than anywhere else in town. Gerger & Greco Landscaping carries something of that standard out into the neighborhoods, into the front yards and side strips of a place built almost entirely of brick and grass. The work is mowing, edging, string trimming, and the cleanups that bracket a Midwestern year. Late May is the best of it, growth coming fast, the mower leaving its light and dark bands, the smell of cut grass hanging in the gangways between houses. In a town this dense, a well-kept lawn is a kind of neighborliness, and it reads from the sidewalk.
