Earth Services

About Earth Services

North of Benton, Rend Lake spreads wide and gray in January, and when a cold front sweeps down across it the wind reaches town carrying snow. Earth Services takes on snow removal as evening falls, scraping driveways and porch steps down before the overnight freeze locks everything in place. Snow left packed until morning turns to ice, so timing is part of the craft. The finished work is plain and satisfying: bare concrete under the porch light and a path that will not betray a step. The lake keeps its own weather; the driveway, at least, is spoken for.
