Two calendars govern a year in Algonquin, and Barone Aerating & Lawn Services Inc keeps both. The first turns in September, when the nights cool off up on the terraces above the river and the aerator goes out, leaving neat cores scattered across a lawn so air and water can finally get down where the roots are. Mowing, trimming and cleanup fill the months on either side of it. Then the second calendar takes over: plow on the truck, salt in the hopper, driveways and walks opened before the morning commute has to think about it. Both jobs end the same way — a property that looks looked-after — for households across Algonquin and the nearby villages.
