US-95 runs straight through the middle of Weiser, and after dark in winter it's mostly headlights and taillights threading past the old depot and the rail line running alongside, the town itself gone quiet for the night. SNOTRANS works those late hours, plowing driveways and roadside lots and hauling snow off pinch points where a storm has left banks too tall to see around. Working a highway town after dark takes its own kind of focus, headlights announcing a truck's approach a full minute before it arrives, the plow's own lights the only other brightness on a block otherwise gone to black. Hauling snow away rather than just pushing it matters most right along that stretch of highway, where a growing bank at a corner or a driveway apron can turn into its own hazard within a night or two. By the early hours, with the highway clear and banks hauled back from the shoulders, Weiser looks ready for whatever traffic the morning brings through.
