About Thompson Turf Services

By October the western larch on the ridges above Sandpoint go that improbable gold, and mornings arrive with frost stitched across the grass. This is the season turf is actually made: aeration into cool damp soil, cores left to melt back in, seed dropped straight into the open holes, a fall feeding the roots pull down with them through the long dark months. Thompson Turf Services works the full North Idaho calendar — spring feeding and weed control, summer mowing at a height that shrugs off an August dry spell, autumn overseeding for the thin ground under the pines. Winter closes over Schweitzer and lies flat and white in town for months, and what emerges from under it in April was decided back in the fall. A lawn that greens up early and even, corner to corner, is not luck.
