About Garwood Snow Management LLC

South of Rathdrum, Highway 41 runs flat and straight past Garwood, past the turnoff for Round Lake, through some of the widest-open farmland on the whole Rathdrum Prairie. Garwood Snow Management works that corridor and the properties strung along it, where there's nothing to break the wind between one field and the next and a plowed driveway can drift half full again before lunch. This is prairie snow, not mountain snow — drier, blown sideways more often than it falls straight down, piling deepest against whatever fence line or outbuilding happens to be in its way. The crew watches the wind as much as the snowfall, clearing driveways on the side a drift is actually building rather than just the side that got plowed last time. Out here where the sky takes up most of the view, keeping a driveway open is as much about timing the wind as the storm itself.
