Dig anywhere on this prairie and you hit the story underneath it: cobble and sand left by ancient floodwater, ground flat between the hills. Building Ground Landscape starts there in April, when the frost lets go and the earth will finally take a shovel. We shape beds, grade, and set plantings, then keep the lawn honest with a weekly cut, clean edges and cleanups in spring and fall. The third visit is the good one, when what was bare dirt has knit into something that looks like it always belonged to the house.
