In June the Centennial Trail runs busy from first light, and the yards that back onto the Spokane River in Post Falls stay damp until the sun clears the trees. Preferred Landscaping Services times its routes to that — cutting once the blades dry so the mower leaves stripes instead of clumps, then trimming close around the fences and river rock. Weed control keeps the beds honest, feeding keeps the turf dense enough to crowd out what the wind brings in, and a blower finishes every visit. There is a particular pleasure in coming back down a street at day's end and seeing four lawns in a row all standing up straight. The river keeps moving past; the grass gets its weekly hour of attention.
