North of Pocatello, along the river bottoms where the community of Tyhee sits between the city and the Fort Hall line, the cottonwoods and windbreak rows grow thick enough that a heavy snow bends whole stands of branches toward the ground at once. Tyhee Trees works that bottomland after big systems move through, clearing snow-loaded limbs off driveways, fence lines, and the farm lanes threading between the tree rows out there. The bottoms sit low and cold, holding frost and fog longer into the morning than the benches above town, so branches here often carry ice as well as snow, doubling the weight a limb has to hold before it gives. Clearing that debris means working around irrigation ditches and fence posts hidden under fresh snow, ground that looks simple until the saw or the truck finds what's actually underneath. It is quiet, cold, early work along a stretch of river bottom most of Pocatello only passes on the way to somewhere else.
