About Ground Up Tree Works

October in Payette is cottonwood gold — the big trees along the river bottoms let go all at once, and for two weeks every lawn in town wears a yellow coat it never asked for. Ground Up Tree Works spends that stretch mowing the leaves down and carrying them off, yard by yard, until the turf shows itself again. There is a particular pleasure in the reveal: grass still green under all of it, the edges recut, the walk swept back to bare concrete. Before the cold sets the ground hard, the last cuts go short and the beds get cleared out. Come spring those same yards start the year ahead instead of behind.
