Western Landscapes

About Western Landscapes

Wagon ruts still cross this country, and on an October night out past Orchard the sky gets so thick with stars that the horizon is the only dark thing left. Autumn is when the plain turns its colors down — bunchgrass gone tan, rabbitbrush finished blooming, the air suddenly clean and long-sighted. Western Landscapes uses the season for the work that pays off later: aeration and overseeding, fall cleanup, a final low mow, beds cut back ahead of winter. Through the growing months it is straightforward rotation mowing, trimming, edging, fertilizing and weed control. Come spring, the yards that got the autumn treatment are the ones that green up first, and that is a fine thing to stand back and look at.
