Nampa's older neighborhoods still follow the lines of the irrigation canals that shaped the town before the streets did, and on a cold January morning those canal banks are usually the last place the valley fog burns off. IWAL LLC works those canal-side streets early, clearing driveways while the fog is still thick enough to blur the porch lights two houses down. It's slow, careful work in that kind of visibility - checking twice before backing a truck out, listening for the school buses before they're close enough to see. The reward comes a couple hours later, when the sun finally cuts through and the whole block is standing there clear, dry, and a little bit proud of itself. Winter in the Treasure Valley is as much about fog as it is about snow, and this crew treats both the same way: something to work through, not around.
