Diamond Lawns

About Diamond Lawns

Late winter in this valley is a gray lid — the inversion settles over Meridian for days at a time, and everything underneath it waits. Then a wind comes through, the sky goes hard blue, and the lawns around Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park show their first honest green down at the crowns. Diamond Lawns opens the season there, with the first cut of the year and the cleanup that belongs to it: winter litter off the turf, borders reset, walks cleared. From that pass forward the mowing keeps to its week, so the yard never gets away from anybody. There is real satisfaction in a sharp edge along a wet March sidewalk, and it carries all the way to fall.
