Lawn Lady

About Lawn Lady

Up on Normal Hill the yards arrive in terraces, small tidy squares stacked above the older brick streets, each one framed by a wall or a hedge. Lawn Lady mows and trims those squares, edges the walks and gathers the trimmings before the afternoon shade slides down the slope. Narrow gates, steep back lawns, a thin strip of grass between sidewalk and curb: the hill asks for a careful hand more than horsepower. Cut short and even, a terraced lawn catches the low light differently, and a whole block seems to straighten up at once. It is a small, unshowy kind of beauty, and it is worth doing right.
