Up in Wardner the streets tilt hard above Kellogg, and the yards go with them — short, steep, cut into the hillside and stubborn about it. Timber Down works those slopes, walking a mower where nothing else would hold, trimming the banks and the retaining walls, edging what pavement there is to edge. August dusk comes early behind the ridge, and a hillside lawn finished in that blue half-light is a fine thing to stand back and look at. Cleanups carry on through fall, grass cleared of everything the hill sends down on it. Steep ground is still just ground; it only asks that you take your time with it.
