About Menke's Tree Service LLC

Kellogg is built into a narrow seam of the Silver Valley, its houses stacked up hillsides that climb straight into timber, with the South Fork running through the middle of it all. Menke's Tree Service works that slope, where a fir leaning over a roof has gravity and a hundred feet of hill on its side. Removal happens piece by piece, rigged down over rooflines and steep yards, while trimming and pruning keep limbs away from eaves and out of the path of the snow that slides off metal in February. The gondola towers climbing Silver Mountain give the measure of how vertical this country is, and the trees grow to match — tall, close together, reaching for the strip of sky between ridges. When a wet spring storm loads the canopy and something lets go, the day is cutting, chipping and hauling until the yard opens back up to the street.
