Past Heyburn's edges, where town gives way to long straight farm roads toward Rupert and Declo, snow doesn't get shoveled so much as pushed — a loader blade wide enough to open a farmstead lane in a pass or two, headlights cutting through grey early light before the farm crews arrive. Intermountain New Holland moves that same snow off long driveways and farm entrances scattered across the flat country around Heyburn, where a single storm can stack a drift hard against a fence line overnight. Opening a half-mile lane in one pass, the loader cutting a clean channel through what would take hours by hand, is the kind of job this equipment was built for. The work follows the farm roads toward Burley and Paul as much as it stays near town, wherever the drifts piled deepest. By full daylight, the Snake River valley lit up under fresh snow, the lanes are open and the trucks are moving again.
