Idaho Yard Butler

About Idaho Yard Butler

Fog lies flat across Lake Coeur d'Alene most winter mornings in Harrison, thick enough that the old depot buildings along the waterfront seem to float free of their own reflections until the sun finally burns through. Idaho Yard Butler clears walkways and driveways along that same shoreline and back into town toward the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes, ahead of the first joggers and dog-walkers testing the ice underfoot. The marina sits empty of boats this time of year, the lake rimmed at its edges with a thin skin of ice, and a driveway scraped down to bare gravel is about the only proof anyone was out before dawn. St. Maries and Plummer are an easy run down the same lake road, and the work follows it that far when a storm calls for it. By afternoon, once the fog lifts off the water, Harrison looks like any other quiet lake town again.
