Whittaker's lawn service

About Whittaker's lawn service

September in Coeur d'Alene turns the light sideways. The sun drops behind the Coeur d'Alene Mountains, the Spokane River goes the color of weak tea, and the grass, cooled off at last, puts on one more push of green before it quits for the year. Whittaker's lawn service works that stretch of the calendar the way you'd work a good harvest — mowing, trimming, edging, then hauling off the needles and the first cottonwood leaves that pile against every fence line from Riverstone out toward Rathdrum. A lawn here has to survive a dry August and a long freeze, and the difference between one that comes back in April and one that doesn't is usually the care it got in the fall. So the passes stay straight, the beds stay clean, the edge along the drive holds its line. Come evening the yard is buttoned up, and the smell of cut grass hangs around a while after the truck is gone.
