English Point Road curls along Coeur d'Alene's western shoreline under stands of ponderosa and tamarack, and the driveways out that way tend to run long and bend more than once before they reach a garage. BCR Land Services works those lakeside properties around Tubbs Hill and out toward the point, where a storm can knock a limb across the drive right along with the snow, and both need clearing before anyone's getting to work. The lake keeps this stretch of shoreline a few degrees warmer than the flats inland, which mostly means the snow arrives heavier and wetter and packs down fast if a driveway sits even half a day. Threading a plow blade around a bend without gouging gravel into somebody's yard takes a slower hand than a straight suburban lot ever asks for. When it's done right, what's left is a clean ribbon of driveway winding back through the trees to the water, snow banked neatly rather than dumped across the lawn.
