About Idaho Snow Plowing

Wind has the run of the plains around Buhl, and out past the edge of town it doesn't so much snow as blow — flat, hard gusts that scour one stretch of road bare and pile the next into a drift a truck can't push through in a single pass. This crew reads those wind lines the way a sailor reads current, working the farm-to-market roads and long straight driveways that cut across the high desert toward the Snake River Canyon rim. A plow blade set wrong out here just pushes a drift sideways into the next field; set right, it throws the snow clear and leaves a lane a sedan can drive without fishtailing. The canyon itself stays mostly hidden until a driveway crests a rise and the whole gorge opens up below, startling every time. Clearing a road out here isn't a one-and-done job — the wind can refill a lane in an hour, so the work is really about outlasting it, pass after pass, until the storm finally quits.
