About Gisin Landscape & Design

On the benchland above Blackfoot there is a line where lawn stops and sagebrush begins, and drawing that line well is most of the art. Gisin Landscape & Design starts there: a bed curve marked out in May, sod squared to the walk, plantings chosen for a place that gets long sun, thin rain and cold that means it. Design work in this valley has to answer to wind off the plain and to soil that would rather grow potatoes, so beds get mulched deep and shrubs get placed where they will actually thrive. Once it is in, it is kept — edges recut, beds weeded, grass mown to the height that suits the season. The best moment comes a year later, when the planting has filled in and the yard looks like it was always meant to sit exactly there.
