The first genuinely warm Saturday in March is a mixed blessing in Blackfoot: the snow gives up all at once, the lawn reappears, and so does everything the dog left under it since Thanksgiving. Doo Doo Scoopers exists for exactly that moment, and for the fifty-one weeks after it, walking a yard end to end until the grass is honestly clean again. Backyards along the river bottoms thaw soft and slow here, so the work is done carefully, gate latched behind, waste bagged and carried off the property. It is humble work with an unmistakable payoff — kids and bare feet back on the grass, and a yard nobody has to tiptoe across. Regular visits keep spring from ever being that dramatic again.
