Windsor Heights packs a lot of driveway into not much land, and the tight grid of postwar homes near Colby Park all seem to need clearing at once after a snow. Heffron Services works that grid in careful order, plowing driveways and shoveling walks street by street rather than jumping between them, since the close-set houses mean one blocked driveway backs up a whole block's worth of cars. The Walnut Creek trail through town goes untouched, but the streets that cross it get salted at the low points where the creek's cold air collects and ice forms first. Front steps get cleared on their own pass, apart from the driveway work, since Windsor Heights homes tend to have both close to the street. It's dense, compact work suited to a dense, compact suburb.
