West Burlington sits up on the bluffs west of the Mississippi, high enough that the fog off the river valley below often burns off here before it clears Burlington proper. Reid's Landscapes runs its plows through that fog on the coldest mornings, working the ridge streets and down toward the rail crossings where the tracks cut through town. Ice builds fast on the sloped driveways up here, so the crew works in order — plow, then a hand pass on the steps, then salt wherever the grade holds shade all day. Small commercial lots along the highway frontage get swept back too, far enough that customers aren't parking against a snowbank. By the time the fog lifts off the valley below, West Burlington's driveways are already down to blacktop.
