Ripke Outdoor

About Ripke Outdoor

The first hard frost in Waukee arrives quietly, some morning in October when the corn out at the county edge has gone the color of paper and the grass crunches underfoot until about ten. Ripke Outdoor is working in that air, breath showing, finishing out the mowing season and moving into the cleanups — leaves off the lawn, debris cleared from walks and drives, edges kept honest right to the end. Iowa weather does not negotiate, so the work simply follows the calendar it is given. There is something good about a yard completely squared away before the cold takes hold for real. It sits there through the dark months still looking cared for.
