Tiffin has been filling in fast along Clear Creek, new rooflines rising out of what were oat fields not long ago, close enough to the Coralville Lake spillway that the whole area still floods when the reservoir runs high. Half Moon Landscaping clears those newer driveways along with the older lots closer to the original crossroads, working a town that's really two towns now — the quiet farm crossing and the subdivisions that have grown up around it. Snow settles differently across that mix: fresh sod holds it loose and easy to move, while the older, shaded lots near the creek keep a crust of ice underneath. Clear Creek itself runs low and half-frozen most winter mornings, a thin line of black water cutting through white banks. The crew works both halves of town on the same route, since neither one waits long for a clear driveway.
