Mark's Mowing & More

About Mark's Mowing & More

Before sunrise the obelisk on the bluff south of town — Sergeant Floyd's monument, watching the Missouri since long before the interstate ran past it — is the first thing the light finds. Mark's Mowing & More is usually rolling by then, because dew-heavy grass cuts clean and the day has not turned hot yet. The route runs mowing and edging first, then the rest of it: leaf clearing in the fall, fertilization timed to how cool-season turf feeds itself here, trimming wherever a mower deck cannot reach. Sioux City properties range from flat river-bottom lots to slopes that demand a careful line, and both get finished the same way. There is real pride in pulling off a driveway at eight in the morning with the stripes still lying perfectly across the yard.
