About J & V Landscaping & Housekeeping

Sioux City wakes up on brick — the old paving of Historic Fourth Street holding the cool of the night while the first delivery trucks rattle across it. J & V Landscaping & Housekeeping is out not long after, mower gates down, the day's route running from downtown blocks to the yards that climb away from the river. There is a particular satisfaction in hedges squared up and a walkway swept clear of clippings before the neighborhood has finished its coffee. Through the growing months it is mowing and trimming on a rhythm; when the maples let go it turns to raking, hauling, and putting beds down for the cold. Plain work, steady hands, and a lot of grass that looks better at five o'clock than it did at seven.
