About Exceptional Edge
Before the shops along Sigourney's courthouse square open their doors, Exceptional Edge has already been out clearing the sidewalks that ring it, working the same brick storefronts that have anchored Keokuk County's business for generations. The hills roll harder here than in most of Iowa, so a snow that looks light on the square can still gather deep in the low spots where the streets dip toward the west edge of town. Sidewalks scraped clean, salted, and squared off at the curb are what let the square open on schedule on the kind of gray winter morning when the whole county seems to move slower. Driveways up on the rise above town get the same care as the flatter lots downtown, because the wind off those hills doesn't check an address before it drifts a lane shut. Sigourney gets to start its day without a second thought about the walk to the courthouse steps, which is the whole point of getting there early.
